Club trip – Ljubljana

Well Redway Runners went to Ljubljana in Slovenia for the last weekend in October 2016 for the club trip with the half marathon on Sunday.

Ljubljana was a lovely city. Thursday we picked up our numbers and visited the expo. Friday did our own Friday morning club run and managed to find a great hill. Then rest of the day sightseeing.

Saturday was a trip to the Chocolate fair, a pasta party and then later in the day a short fun run around the city. before preparations for the big eventimg_20161030_100411024_hdr

With the extra hour in bed meant a fairly later start for the runners doing the half marathon, great run around the street and parks of the city, all of us took the option of the half marathon. The event was really well organised but the finish was a bit chaotic.

We met up for a celebratory drink in the afternoon and then again for our post race party in the evening.

Monday and more sightseeing with us getting the bus out to the beautiful Lake Bled

Ljubljana is a lovely if small city, with really friendly people. The races were really well organised and great value

Treasure Hunt Fun run

On Sunday 23 October, 78 took part in today’s ‘Treasurer Hunt Fun Run’ from The Harvester at Willen East Lake. The run which replaced the normal Sunday Run was a test event for a bigger event next year to help celebrate the MK 50.

The letters found were R; O; U; N; D; A; B; O; U; T; S. (If you know the word these letters make, answers on a postcard to MGB, Martin and Richard).

A special thanks to my team of helpers, Sophie, Helen, Carol, Riitta, Brenda, Sheila but special thanks to my wing man, Ian Stevens for making the event a tremendous success. Many thanks to the staff at The Harvester for looking after us with delicious rolls.

We hope you all enjoyed it, especially the memento. Judging by the laughter and feed back, you all did.
Don’t forget to post your ‘selfies’

Well Redway Runners Multisport needs you!

Answer any questions you may have, all in the hope that we can help guide you on to something different and in return you help us ensure that Redway Runners Multisport can offer you something that is (guess what) useful to you!
This initial meeting (yes there will be more if there is interest) is being held on 25th October at 19:00 in the Henman Room at David Lloyd Gym. The meeting will be restricted to 25, so we have time to answer all questions as well as letting you guys know what our ideas are for next year.

NSPCC Half and 10K

Fantastic turnout on Sunday, 25 September for the NSPCC Milton Keynes half marathon and 10K from the club.

Think we even got some trophies in the club for Sarah, Richard, John and Terry.

Fantastic group green photo before the races.

Then we had a fantastic water station and cheering point led by Jenny on the canal behind David Lloyd – you were all fab

The Zero to Hero group for this year did a major milestone in running the 10K as part of the programme towards the MK Marathon in May 2017

We also had a few take part as the traveling band on the run singing the odd song (very odd) and making lots of noise

Well done all who got involved

Test Event for MK50 (2017)

In place of our normal Sunday runs on 23 October 2016 at 9am, we will be holding a ‘Treasure Hunt Fun Run’, a test event for a bigger and better event as part of the Milton Keynes 50 year celebrations in 2017.

To help us test if this event would be successful, we are asking you to support this fun run.

Details:

  • Start/Finish from Harvester at Willen Eastlake.
  • Mixed Teams of three Redway Runners (A combination of Brain/Brawn/Speed)
  • Each team to start at 2 minute intervals following a number of clues.
  • Total distance covered will be about 10km.
  • Bacon Rolls and unlimited Tea/Coffee for £3.00 from our friends at The Harvester.

Please email Stephen at stephenscott1958@gmail.com with details of your team.

Start times will be published nearer the time.

If you are unable to put a team together, still turn up and we will put you with others.

Feedback, both positive and negative would be most appreciated as this could turn into a major event for the club next year.
