Redway Runners Celebrating MK50

2017 sees the 50th birthday of Milton Keynes

Development of the new town of Milton Keynes began following its formal designation as a new town on January 23rd 1967.
Its purpose was to help alleviate London’s chronic housing problem and to provide a commercial centre for Buckinghamshire. It was called Milton Keynes after the existing village of that name.

MK Council will be holding lots of celebratory event throughout the year to mark this anniversary and Redway Runners will be playing their part in this
For anyone wanting to see further details of the celebrations planned so more or to read more of the history of MK you can visit a dedicated website set up for the occasion at MK50

What better way to mark the occasion than to run/walk/crawl 50 miles in 67 days (MK was born in 1967….see what we did there!) to earn a fantastic bespoke medal to commemorate the occasion?

  • **** NEW *** MK THROUGH THE DECADES RUN SERIES

To celebrate the history and development of Milton Keynes, Redway Runners and Milton Keynes Athletic Club will be hosting a unique ‘Run Series’ in the summer

Commencing on Thursday 1st June there will be a run fortnightly at 7pm, starting from different locations around MK

Each run will reveal how Milton Keynes developed in a particular decade and culminate with a run round some of the key areas of that development
