Saturday 14 July was a glorious sunny day and 260 crazy souls took time out of their afternoon to take part in the annual Furzton Relay. Our pre race warm up was fabulously supported by Sweat Studios (I do hope some of you had the opportunity to try out some new stretching techniques). Meanwhile Recharge Hut and the team from The Henry Allen Trust made sure everyone was well hydrated and fuelled ready for the afternoon’s challenge.
There was some brilliant fancy dress teams and great support from our local clubs Shenley Striders, Fit MK, MK trainer, Brackley runners, MMKAC and MK Lakeside runners.
There were prizes for first all male, first all female and the first mixed team.
The first all male team were our very own 640 Fun Runners who completed the course in a blistering time of 57.09.
Fit MK gave us both the first all female team , Chasing the Unpensionables, Sophie, Sarah, Tara and Ruth in a time of 1.22.08 and the first mixed team, Fit MK Flyers finishing in 1.01.46.
The Redway Deadrocks ran away with the prize for best fancy dress, and the Furz-timers had the best team name.
A massive thank you to everyone who participated and volunteered at the relay, a full list of results can be found here https://www.resultsbase.net/event/4427/results?page=1
We will share a link to the official photos shortly once they have all been downloaded.
Club events like this are all about coming together and having a good time to raise some money for a good cause. This year’s relay was no exception. It is very rewarding to participate in an event like this and really see what this fabulous club has to offer. A massive and heartfelt thank-you to the small army of selfless and enthusiastic volunteers whose efforts, often behind the scenes, make this kind of event a possibility. And of course to all of you who signed up and showed your support for the club by running and supporting your team mates on a glorious sunny day at Furzton.
Please keep a look out for the date of next year’s event and let’s make 2019 even bigger and better!
