Redway Runners for Juniors started a pilot for 24 children in the club in March 2018.

Therefore, Redway Runners now offer EA approved Coaching for U18s. Any child aged between 10 & up to 18 is welcome to participate.

16 year old and over members can run with Redway Runners at Adult runs regardless, they are in the fortunate and unique position of being able to choose from ALL sessions (including U18s) available throughout the Club and are encouraged to try everything.

Coaching volunteers operate within England Athletics guidelines and they suggest a ratio of 1 Coach to 12 Children. All of Redway Runners Coaching volunteers are qualified and licensed by England Athletics. This also includes a DBS check. All sessions are pre planned, age appropriate and supervised by qualified volunteers. Safety is paramount and over training is managed during the sessions.

The U18s meet 3 times per week, Tuesday & Thursday evenings and Sunday mornings. We train mainly in our wonderful green spaces around Milton Keynes, but when needed, use local halls and Stantonbury Track (Wednesdays). During the winter/dark nights we will be swapping to Wednesday evenings at the Track every week.

As with all Redway Runners, the emphasis is on running for being social and fun, competition is very much for the individual. The beauty of running is that you can time yourself over distance. If it’s improvement that you seek then can record your own times.

Anyone who is interested joining can email the U18s Coach Douglas direct at:

Will the under 18s be able to take part in Cross Country?

Redway Runners take part in the Chiltern League Cross Country and under 18s can run, these races take place on Saturdays from October to February, under 18’s (and all runners in the Cross Country) will need to have England Athletics Affiliation with Redway Runners and take part wearing a green club top, more on Cross Country click here

How to Join?

Firstly, contact Douglas and he will confirm the session details and come along and try for two weeks, at the end of the trial providing we have availability then join via the ‘Join’ tab, after you have joined, let Douglas know and he make sure you get under 18s communications

Can under 18s take part in parkrun?

5K parkruns take place on Saturday mornings and junior parkruns on Sunday morning and members may want to take part in these free events, please do register at parkrun as a Redway Runner, parkruns do have advice on under 16’s taking part, which we agree with, to see this click here

What happens when the member reaches 16?

Then they are able to continue membership and take part in any of the club runs

Can under 16s take part in the other club runs?

If taking part, then they always have to run with parent/guardian  and it must be agreed with the run lead before the run starts – with the longer distances of some of the club runs it may not be appropriate to do these runs as an under 16.

Can under 16s get club kit?

Yes, just remember kit normally takes about 21 days to be ready from ordering, so leave plenty of time, we have a special page on the club shop with under 16s items. Note, not all items are available in the under 16s range, but some adult items like the ladies’ vest come up in some small sizes. Just order club kit from the ‘store’ tab.
