Thank you to everyone who took part in the MK50 Treasure Hunt events on Sunday, 1 October, from Willen Lake and hope you all had a fantastic time.
66 took on the half marathon distance this morning and a further 114 completed the 10 km this afternoon.
A special thank you to my team of volunteers, without you it wouldn’t be possible.
We would love to have your ‘selfies’ from the day and any feedback.
As a result we have made a profit of about £664 for the MK Hospital Charity which is brilliant.

As part of the MK50 celebrations, Redway Runners held a Treasure Hunt. for all age groups and abilities, to either run, jog or walk a half marathon, 10km or for families a stroll around the lake.
During the day, events were organised into three categories, GOLD, SILVER & BRONZE.
GOLD (Half Marathon Distance)
(Between 9am – 1pm)
In teams of 3 to run, jog or walk starting at 2 minute intervals following the Millennium Circular Route over a distance of approximately 13.1 miles. After each mile, looking for hidden letters and taking a team ‘selfie’. The letters will form a word synonymous with Milton Keynes.
This is not a race but will be timed for record only. Ideal for seasoned runners to casual walkers. Water stations will be positioned along the route at 3 mile intervals.
Every participant will receive a fabulous bespoke medal on completion of the coursel
SILVER (10km Distance – approx)
(Between 1pm – 4pm)
In teams of 3 to run, jog or walk starting at 2 minute intervals following clues highlighted on a grid map looking for hidden letters and taking a team ‘selfie’. The letters will form a word synonymous with Milton Keynes.
The route has been measured at approximately 10 km by the shortest means but could be longer dependent on the route taken and whether you get lost along the way. This is not a race but will be timed for record only. Ideal for seasoned runners to casual walkers. Great fun for everyone.
Every participant will receive a fabulous bespoke medal on completion of the course.
BRONZE
(Between 10am – 4pm)
A fun and FREE event for all the family. Discover interesting facts about the growth of Milton Keynes along the way whilst enjoying the beauty of Willen Lake. Each information board positioned around the lake will contain answers to questions on a quiz sheet.
Every child will have the opportunity to select a special gift from the pirates chest.

LOCATION
Willen Lakes, Brickhill St, Milton Keynes MK15 0DS. Start and finish is from The Events Lawn at Willen Lakes, next to the splash zone.
DIRECTIONS
From the M1, take junction 14 and head towards Central Milton Keynes. 1st roundabout take the 2nd exit onto Childs Way (A4146). 2nd roundabout take the 2nd exit and continue on Childs Way (A4146). You will now see the lakes on the right hand side. At the 3rd roundabout take the 3rd exit onto Brickhill Street (V10). At the 2nd roundabout take the 3rd exit into the ample car park (Pay & Display) which is adjacent to the events lawn.
FACILITIES
There is ample pay & display parking available at Willen lakes together with public toilets and a cafe.
Bag drop and separate changing facilities will be available to GOLD and SILVER participants

Entries fees for 2017 event were
Gold entry is £12 plus booking fee, per person.
Silver entry is £10 plus booking fee, per person.
Bronze entry is FREE and no need to book. Just turn up on the day between 10am – 4pm
All profits will go to the Club Charity of the Year
