Redway Runners for Juniors started as a pilot for 24 children in March 2018. Since then, we’ve offered EA approved Coaching for U18s, suitable for any child aged 10-18. In line with the ethos of Redway Runners, the emphasis in our under 18s group is on running as a social and fun activity, competition is very much for the individual.
Members over 16 are also able to join any Redway Runners adult runs – they are in the fortunate and unique position of being able to choose from ALL sessions and are encouraged to try everything.
Coaching volunteers operate within England Athletics guidelines and the suggested ratio of 1 coach to 12 children. All Redway Runners Coaching volunteers are qualified and licensed by England Athletics which includes a DBS check. All sessions are pre-planned, age appropriate and supervised by qualified volunteers. Safety is paramount and over training is managed during the sessions.
U18s meet 3 times per week, Tuesday & Thursday evenings and Sunday mornings. We train mainly in the wonderful green spaces around Milton Keynes, but when needed, use local halls and Stantonbury Track (Wednesdays). During the winter/dark nights we swap to Wednesday evenings at the Track every week.
Anyone who is interested joining can email the U18s Coach Douglas.
The Parent’s code of conduct is available for download here
Firstly, contact Douglas and he will confirm the session details. You are welcome to come along and try for two weeks. At the end of the trial providing we have availability, you should then join the club.
Once registered, let Douglas know and he make sure you are included in all under 18s communications.
If taking part, u16s must always run with their parent/guardian and it must be agreed with the run lead before the run starts.
Longer club run distances may not be appropriate for those under 16.
