Charity of the Year

Each year at the club AGM, Redway Runners holds a vote for members to decide the club ‘Charity of the Year’.

Process

  • After 1 April, paid Redway Runners members will be asked for charity nominations through the weekly mail and Facebook page, in advance of the AGM.
  • Nominations must be submitted to the club secretary.
  • The nomination should include, with any links:
    • Full name of the charity
    • The charity number
    • About the charity
    • Why nominating the charity
    • What they will do to support the club, work with the charity
  • Nominations will close ten working days before the AGM.
  • Correct nominations will be listed on the club website and communicated so members can read and consider which charity to vote for.
  • The committee will consider the number of nominations and if time allows may allow presentations for a fixed amount of time – the presentation can be by the nominator or from a representative of the nominator.
  • At the AGM the list of charities names will be displayed.
  • The secretary will organise a vote of members and announce the result.

Rules

  • Only registered charities are eligible for nomination – a registered charity number must be provided at the time of nomination.
  • Only paid Redway Runners members can nominate charities and vote at the AGM.
  • A charity can be nominated each year, provided they have not been the club charity of the year in the previous three years.

Notes:

The nominator of the charity will be required to organise the club Christmas raffle, this includes obtaining prizes for the raffle and selling tickets.
