It’s official. We have done it.
Redway Runners have collectively clocked up over 1,000,000 kilometers at UK parkruns!
The first local Community based club to achieve this milestone. We have been checking and we believe the one millionth K was completed by Luke Siggers who ran his 100th parkrun at Salcey Forest on Saturday 6 June 2026.
Let’s just pause and let that number sink in. One million kilometers. That is equivalent to:
-
25 times around the circumference of the Earth.
-
A trip to the Moon and back… and then halfway back again.
-
200,000 5k finishes.
Whether you were there at the very beginning or just scanned your barcode for the first time last weekend; whether you smash out 16-minute finishes or love a social run with friends; whether you run, walk or volunteer—you own a piece of this incredible milestone.
How We Got Here: One Saturday at a Time
This wasn’t achieved overnight. It was built 5 kilometers at a time, through every kind of British weather imaginable.
-
The Frosty January Mornings: Pushing through the winter chill when the duvet was calling.
-
The Summer Sizzlers: Chasing down PBs in the heat, dreaming of the post-run coffee.
-
The Milestones Within the Milestone: Every 25, 50, 100, 250, and 500 milestone tee earned by our members contributed to this massive club total.
From our home turf at Milton Keynes parkrun (Willen Lake), Bury Field and Linford Wood, to the tourist spots across the UK, Redway Runners have left their footprints everywhere.
More Than Just a Number
While 1,000,000 km is a staggering stat, the real magic is what that number represents:
1,000,000 km of community, friendship, mental health wins, high-fives, and mutual support.
Thank you to every single member who has donned the club green on a Saturday morning. You’ve shown exactly what makes Redway Runners so special.
One surprising thought that the one million K was not run at Milton Keynes or Bury Field as neither was on last Saturday!!
Here’s to the next million. See you at the barcode scanners!
Footnote; this only includes UK events, not overseas and does not include junior parkruns
Thanks to Kevin O for spotting this milestone and to Sue and Phil for researching who completed the milestone again a team effort.
