Wishing everyone a happy New Year for 2026.
For Redway Runners it has been another great year we finish the year with over 3,000 members, we have on our run schedule 55 runs (some weekly others monthly) a fantastic team of 73 registered run lead, over 2025 we have bought to you over 2,000 runs over 365 days with 37,000 runners on those runs – those numbers are astounding alone.
The highlight for me, was the club being presented with the King’s Award for Voluntary Service at our special event at The Open University and having so many along for the afternoon, I was also honoured to represent the club at the Royal Garden Party at Buckingham Palace. Additionally for our award we did special club kit, and a summer celebration event evening.
I personally am so proud of the work the club does in the community, we donated over £11,000 to our last charity of the year, Action 4 Youth, this year’s charity Milton Keynes Hospital Charity fund raising is looking like another great year.
But that is not all we do as a club in the Community we have taken part in Plant a Tree, planting trees to help keep Milton Keynes Green, collected food for the Milton Keynes Food Bank with the ‘Food Bank run’. Taken over a garden at Milton Keynes Hospital and are tending that, supported Camp Hill with the Jumper Jaunt again, this truly does make us a community running club, giving back something.
The Cross Country team achieved an amazing feet of winning the Dennis Orme Trophy at the Chiltern League, the club also won an award in the ‘SME Awards’.
Being a social running club, we have had fun on the club runs with a series of special event runs, including, Great Train Robbery chase, Charity Breakfasts, Brooks Special Track night, YMCA specials, Blue Light hub run, Halloween run, Run with the Animals and our Poptastic Quiz run on New Years eve are just a few examples.
All of the club events have developed and proved popular with MK24, Beat the Barge, Furzton Relay, Memorial run and Santa Saunter
We had club overseas trips to Belgrade and Fuengirola, which proved very enjoyable and fun and in Fuengirola the club won the trophy for the biggest club at the event.
Behind the scenes a lot have been happening, we held an EGM to approve a change to the constitution so we could apply to HM Revenue and Customs to become a Community Amateur Sports club which we have successfully since done, the club clothing store has had a makeover, tidied up records on our membership database, delivered First aid training to many of the club volunteers, launched champions to promote the club in the local community.
As we enter 2026, we have another exciting year ahead, 1 January 2026 marks the club entering its 15th year milestone, so we are hoping to do a few things to celebrate this, but be sure we will still be ‘Running Milton Keynes’
Finally, everything that we do as a club would not be possible without the time given up by so many club volunteers to make everything we do so successful, a massive thank you to each and every one of them.
