This autumn marks the fourth year of Let’s Lift the Curfew, a national movement by This Girl Can to challenge the restrictions women face when safety fears make it harder to be active outdoors after dark.
We’re pleased to announce that Redway Runners is taking part this year.
Every year, the clocks go back—and for many women, their world gets smaller. When the clocks go back on Sunday 25 October, darker evenings can affect where women feel able to go, when they go, who they go with, and whether they feel safe being active outdoors at all.
To help more people get active, non-members are welcome to join any of the Redway Runners runs and rambles listed below during the week from Sunday 25 October to Saturday 31 October.
If you’re not a member, the run leader will ask you to complete a short form for insurance purposes.

Remember, the clocks go back this Sunday, so do not to arrive too early for the Sunday runs.
How you can get involved
When posting about your activity:
- use the hashtag #LetsLiftTheCurfew
- tag @thisgirlcanuk wherever relevant
- use the Let’s Lift the Curfew stickers on Instagram stories – (search LetsLiftTheCurfew)
- share details of how people can get involved
- encourage participants to invite friends, family or colleagues
They are looking to amplify activity taking place across the country and they may re-share selected content through This Girl Can channels.
Using Strava
If you’re participating in a Let’s Lift the Curfew activity they are asking you to log a walk, run or cycle on Strava – at a time you feel safe doing so – and label it ‘Let’s Lift The Curfew’.
You can share your Strava activity to your social media with the hashtag #LetsLiftTheCurfew and tag This Girl Can, explaining that these activities are to draw attention to the safety concerns preventing women getting active during darker months.
If you’re sharing it to your Instagram Story, you can search for the ‘Let’s Lift The Curfew’ sticker in-app and add that too.
