Important News, the following was sent to all participnt Sunday 3 May 2020
*************************************************************
I hope that you are well and staying safe during the COVID19 emergency.
Our life has changed beyond recognition in the past few weeks including our love for running. I’m sure many of you have already been disappointed when events like The London Marathon have been cancelled or postponed until later in the year.
The planning team have been ever hopeful that we will be able to proceed with the MK24 ‘Midsummer Run’ on 13th & 14th June.
The health and safety of our participants is of the utmost importance and as our event approaches we have had to give serious consideration as to whether we are able to protect you and generally put on a good event. However, with the latest announcement from England Athletics regarding postponement of Competitive Competition, including the MK24, our licence from the Trail Running Association (TRA) has now been revoked.
Therefore, it is with a heavy heart that I have to inform you that we are forced to postpone the MK24 ‘Midsummer Run’ for 2020.
We have considered the possibility of moving it to later this year, but there are no suitable dates available, so we have decided to postpone the event until Saturday 19th & Sunday 20th June 2021. (Date and licences confirmed)
So what does that mean for you. There are four options to choose from;
- Defer your entry (including camp site pitch) until 2021. To defer your entry, it will guarantee your place in the 2021 event at 2020 prices. There is nothing for you to do, but to simply tell us. As a thank you for your valued support, anyone who has entered the event for 2020 and defers their entry to 2021 will be eligible for both the 2020 & 2021 medals. The Iconic towel, distance pin badges and the new thermal travel mug will still be available to all participants in 2021.
- Take part virtually If you are unable to defer your entry to 2021, but still wish to compete for the 2020 medal, Iconic Towel and distance pin badges (unfortunately the new Thermal Travel Mugs are not available due to the lockdown) you can do this remotely. All we ask is that you complete as many 6.55 mile laps as you can within a 24 hour period, but close to your home and so long as government guidelines permit you to be outside for this amount of time. (Due to any possible government restrictions you will have until 30th September 2020 to do this.) Once completed send evidence, by email with your name, address and choice of coloured towel to stephenscottrrevents@gmail.com and we will get the goodies posted to you.
- Donate your entry to the ‘Club Charity of the year’. If you are unable to do either of the above options, and you are happy to do so, we will donate you entry fee to the ‘Club Charity of the Year’. (Due to the lock down, the club have yet to hold the AGM when the charity we support in 2020/2021 will be decided by the members.)
- Request a refund If you unable to commit to any of the above and you would like your entry fee returned, then we would offer you a full refund to the account it was paid from. However, this must be done before 20th June 2020.
Please can you all send your option choice to stephenscottrrevents@gmail.com as soon as possible.
We know this is very disappointing news and I am sincerely sorry, but I hope you can understand we had no choice but to postpone.
I dearly hope that you are able to defer your entry and we look forward to seeing you in June 2021.
In the meantime, please ‘Stay Safe, Protect the NHS and Save Lives’.
