Frontpage Article, Headlines, News Specials

That’s a wrap for MK24 RunFest for 2025 last Saturday and Sunday 21st and 22 June at Caldecotte Xperience.

A massive well done to everyone who ran or walked over the 24 hours in the very warm conditions.

Also a fantastic achievement from all the volunteers who planned and delivered a great event for Redway Runners, must mention Steve Scott for all the dedicated work in leading on this.

Steve Scott the MK24 Run Director said ‘Wow what a weekend. I think this was the best one yet and I need to thank so many people for making it happen. All those who took part and managed to deal with the extreme heat, all the volunteers that turned up and helped out but most of all my fantastic MK24 planning team.Planning will start next weekend for 2026. If you missed out this year make sure you join us in 2026.’

As an Ever Present 😉 this event gets better and better every year! The weather was so tough but the team worked so hard to provide everything we needed! The team are absolute awesome! Lovely company met on the course, so many laughs and chat with wonderful friends and the triumphant return of the hay bales! Double marathon for me and STILL my favourite event! Thank you so much 💚

Huge thanks to the organisers and amazing volunteers for another fantastic MK24! Despite the heat and humidity trying their best to turn it into an extreme endurance event, the smiles, support, and flawless organisation made it a brilliant day.
Special shoutout to Steve for making sure the ambitious juniors felt welcome.
Another successful event-MadRunners are already looking forward to the next one…though maybe with a slight breeze next year? 😜

MK24 ‘Most Inspirational Participant’ award winner

This year the award was presented to Sean Cobley and here is his story.

“When a young, fit 24 year old in the Army I was diagnosed with cancer in my femur which had also spread to my lung. Fortunately chemotherapy cleared up the cancer in the lung and as the bone cancer was in the middle of the femur I was able to keep my joints with a large chunk of metal replacing the rest of my femur.

Having to leave the Army I worked in the charity sector for many years before becoming a teaching assistant. I have been working in a school in a deprived area of Milton Keynes for about 5.5 years now.

Not being able to run because of my general replacement I have walked a few marathons in the past. As part of my continuing midlife crisis I was thinking what stupid thing I could do to challenge myself. Hearing about MK24 what better challenge than walking 100km in 24 hrs!

Well despite the heat I was able to complete 10 laps and fulfil my challenge along with raising some money to support the pastoral care of the children at my school.

Thank you to Redway runners for organising such an amazing event. Next time please could you book some cooler weather?!
