Over the 17 and 18 June 2023, we held the 4th Redway Runners, MK24 event at Willen Lake with around 280 runners running as many or few laps of the 6.5 mile route (Quarter marathon) taking in Newlands Memorial walk, with the Redway Runners bench, up through Campbell Park and down the other side, along a stretch of the canal, and to the infamous Zig-Zags before going round Willen Lake and along the River Ouzel and then the final stretch back to Willen to complete a lap at our amazing event village.
Runners started at 2pm on the Saturday and then lasted 24 hours. Massive well done to all that run, the temperature over the 24 hours was fairly brutal, but lots of people achieved more than they hoped for and was great to see so many happy faces in the event village that was buzzing all weekend.
An event like this, which is the clubs biggest event of the year is not put on without a massive amount of help from so many people, many of you will have seen and many people behind the scenes, all managed magnificently by Steve S.
We had teams rigging the event village (set up / take down) Timing team, Course set up and marshaling, tent management, (reception and making sure supplies of drinks and food) catering had the BBQ fired up when you most needed it, First aid to handle those in need of a little help (pleased to report the club De-fib was not used, but was in attendance) but a few ice packs and plasters were needed. YOU KNOW IF YOU HELPED THANK YOU, THANK YOU.
Along with all this we have supporters who helped, like Rudi from the Treatment Lab providing massages, Pizza This extra dough, Multisports distribution items for the goody bags and everyone else we really appreciate it.
Well done to our award winners, you truly worked for those trophies with your achievements.
