Old Money run 2024 Event report

Congratulations to all of you who took part in The Old Money Run on Sunday 24November 2024.

Storm Bert made sure that conditions were incredibly challenging, and as a consequence the route needed to be changed at pretty much the last minute. Despite the conditions we had an amazing morning with some fantastic results. More about those shortly. According to the registration lists we had 79 doing the 5 mile runners and 79 for the 10 mile. With runners arriving at around the same time as we received the news that part of the route was flooded. Some rapid thinking ensued and we managed to come up with a route that as it would turn out, was extremely close to 5 miles. We hope you all enjoyed the extra loop of Furzton Lake.

Of course there is an army of volunteers to thank – Sam Greenwood, Nikki Norman, Ian Pennicott, Steve Scott, Dom Kingsman and Will Shippen who have been there throughout the journey, planning, putting out signs, erecting the event village (and taking it down again) and timing, everyone who came along to help set up, registration, hand out medals, the amazing marshals, and Simon Smyth and Simon Billenness who were our lead bike and tail runner. A huge thank you to all. Lorie and Jan did an amazing job on the cake stall raising £329.81 for the club Charity of the Year, Action4youth. Thank you to everyone who baked and or purchased a cake.

It is impossible to hold these events without our volunteers, if you haven’t volunteered at one of our events please do think about it. Quite often you can still run and help out.
