Emergency Alerts on Garmin
To set up emergency alerts on your Garmin device, open the Garmin Connect app, go to Safety & Tracking, and select Safety Features to add up to three emergency contacts.
Next, enable Incident Detection for specific outdoor profiles so your device sends automated texts if it detects a hard jolt or sudden stop.
Setting Up Contacts and Features
Open the Garmin Connect app on your phone.
Tap More (bottom right) or the menu icon.
Select Safety & Tracking, then Safety Features.
Fill in your personal details under My Information.
Tap Emergency Contacts to add up to three trusted people from your phone contacts.
Enabling Incident Detection
Go back to the Safety & Tracking menu.
Select Incident Detection.
Choose the outdoor activities where you want it active, such as run, walk, or ride.
Verify your paired smartphone stays connected via Bluetooth with an active data signal.
Sending Manual Assistance Alerts
Press and hold your watch’s Light/Power button for about 5 seconds until it vibrates or prompts you.
Release the button to start the countdown and notify your emergency contacts with your live location.
Cancel the countdown on your screen immediately if it was triggered by mistake.
