Last week we had a request from Sha to run with us, Sha who lives on Jersey on the Channel Islands but is in Milton Keynes most weekends has a Severe Sight Impairment & enjoys running. He is working towards the London Landmarks Half Marathon next April.
He wanted to join the club Sunday runs, but needed a guide runner, so we put out a request to our Run Leads and a group we have in the club to support runners and very quickly Annette came forward and offered to support, anyway cutting a long story short, Sha is now a member of Redway Runners and completed his first club run with the Step Up Sunday run.
We asked Sha how the run went and he said ‘my run was amazing & I felt so safe with everyone looking out as it goes beyond my guide. I can’t wait to come run again. I just feel so motivated after coffee & hearing all the tips & hints about marathon preparation, really cool that people so happy to share advice’
Welcome to Redway Runners Sha and thanks to Annette for supporting.
If you think you in the future could answer this type of call, then let us know, we could go with more guide runners available, also England Athletics run a course for guiding runners.
