After the last AGM we had a request to review the method of voting for the club ‘Charity of the Year’, the committee have spent a considerable amount of time looking at the issue and investigated several ways this could happen.
We of course need to ensure that any solution is fair to all members and cannot be manipulated or abused, allows only members to vote only once whilst this does not become over complicated. The existing method with members having a vote at the AGM does have the main advantage of encouraging members to attend the clubs most important event of the year, the AGM and learn more about the club.
The IT review left only Love Admin as a possible solution, however, this has a number of areas that would cause concern in using the system to do something for what it is not intended, meaning that the result could be called into question.
The committee has therefore decided to remain with the current solution but make several improvements for next year.
So for the Charity of the Year for 2025/2026 we will:
- After the 1 April 2025, open a window for paid members to nominate a registered charity, they will be asked to provide, the full charity name and registered charity number, a paragraph about the charity and why they are being nominated.
- Once the window is closed then all, charities that meet the criteria will be listed on the club website, allowing members the opportunity before the AGM to read and research the charity they wish to vote for
- At the AGM on the 15 May 2025 at the Cruck Barn members will vote for the charity of the year.
The committee believe this is the best solution for the Club
