Club Trip – Chisinau Moldova

This years autumn club trip was to Chisinau in Moldova and 18 travelled from the club, most went out on the Friday for the races on Sunday 13 September 2026.
Saturday
No parkrun in Chisinau, Moldova, but the event had a 5K Shakeout run. A little different with stopping at the road crossing for lights to go green, but then a lap round the lake after going down, and later up. The run included the 218 steps down and up, so 436 steps of the famous! Cascades Staircase, which were a lovely feature and great views down onto the lake.
The run was free to take part in and included a tee and cap. Afterwards some of us spent the day exploring the city.
Sunday
Pouring rain Saturday night meant us having to stay in the bar for just one more drink!!
Sunday morning in Chisinau, Moldova 
on the club trip we had drizzle for the races.
We had runners in the 5K, 10K and half marathon.
All did great on the out and back course through the city, if getting a little wet.
Great morning, sure we will all be having a celebratory drink or two later.

Sunday night
Sunday evening the group in Chisinau gathered for drinks and the awarding of the customary RR GOFAR BMAs (short for “Redway Runners Go Overseas For A Run Beer Mat Awards”).
The lucky recipients of these prestigious awards were:
- 1. Wendy – so keen to go to Bucharest that she persuaded the pilot to fly there 7 months early (Club trip is April ’27);
- 2. John – mistook yoghurt for milk in the supermarket and added it to his tea;
- 3. Kate – walked into a road sign that warned of a bump in the road.
Summary
Eighteen Redway Runners had a great weekend exploring the city, thanks to Juliet, Phil, John and Sheila for organising for the club.
Next trip is Bucharest in April 2027
