We held our second Redway Runners Daytona race on Saturday, 19 December 2020 – event details click here
It was all a bit touch and go in the week leading up to the race if it would go ahead with one of the key helpers waiting test results, and the impacts of Milton Keynes moving to tier 3, including if the venue would be open, but we managed to work round the obstacles and hold the event, did mean a number of people had to drop out last minute, with many donating the entry fee to the club charity or running virtually, thank you for your support
Anyway a great morning of running with the new Sprint kicking of first with the runners going all out for a single lap of the course, this was followed by the 2 hour event with runners completing as many laps as they could in the 2 hours, then it was the original Daytona 5000, 5 laps of the track and slightly over 5K, finally we had the Fun run for the youngsters and a chance to beat our green Santa.
Thanks to the Mayor of Milton Keynes for coming along as our official race starter and we even persuaded him to take part in running the Daytona 5000 – well done Andrew
Our very own, pre- corporate takeover, Green Santa popped up all over the place keeping everyone entertained
Putting on an event like this does not happen without a lot of work behind the scenes and a big thank you to all the helpers from the club and to the staff at Daytona for making us welcome
