How would you like a piece of what you create to be displayed at Milton Keynes Gallery – we have a very special unique opportunity for you!
Special event Run and Competition
Redway Runners in conjunction with Milton Keynes Museum, Milton Keynes Gallery and Milton Keynes City Council, have something special coming up to mark two significant milestones in Milton Keynes history.
This year marks 15 years of Redway Runners, having started in 2011 and grown since then into probably the largest running club in the United Kingdom with over 3,200 members and has been granted the ‘King’s Award for Voluntary Service’.
Milton Keynes City Council is leading on the Bradwell Windmill Project which celebrates the heritage and history of Bradwell Windmill as a key heritage and community attraction for Milton Keynes. Made possible with funding from The National Lottery Heritage Fund, Milton Keynes Museum and the City Council, the project is running for 2 years until the end of 2026.
To mark these two milestones on Sunday 24 May 2026 the Redway Runners Sunday club runs and ramble will all be going from Bradwell Windmill at 9.00am. There will be a bonus run that will follow a route of around 3.8 miles in the shape of a windmill on a map. After the runs and rambles stay for a cuppa, donations welcome which will go to the Milton Keynes Museum and the Windmill.
Please note parking is limited so please consider car sharing or parking elsewhere, parking is available at the MK Museum also about 40 spaces at: Bounty Street, New Bradwell https://what3words.com/beaten.snaps.allies. Also, Bancroft Roman Villa has parking and is 1 mile away.
We will also be hosting two competitions:-
Between 1st May and 23rd May 2026, Redway Runners members are being asked to create their own map art through recording either a run or walk (i.e. Strava art, can use other mapping tools) to reflect 15 Years of Redway Runners. The Prize will be for one item of club kit (up to £32 – i.e. club top or hoodie)
From 24th May to 31st May, during half-term we are asking for Windmill map art. A ramble or run in the shape of a windmill that has Bradwell Windmill within the route, or nearby will be eligible. The prize is 2 single tickets to Milton Keynes Museum.
Please submit a screen shot of your completed route from 1st May 2026 on this link. To enter you will need to submit from a google mail account (sorry limitations of the software for the image) at: https://tinyurl.com/annualheritagerun
We will have a judging panel made up of Redway Runners, MK Museum and MK Gallery.
The winning routes will then be displayed at the Milton Keynes Gallery and you will be able to see them by visiting the café at the Gallery from 12th to 30th June 2026. To mark the launch on Friday 12th May the club social run and step up to social runs will leave from the Cafe at the Gallery at 9.30am and back in time for the ‘official launch’ at 11am.
