The club held the first UK club trip of 2022 to Warner’s at Hayling Island starting on Monday 14 May
We had 12 travel for the trip, for those that do not know Warner’s, they are Adult only stays which usually include dinner, bed and breakfast plus on site entertainment.
We organised a couple of runs, suitable for all.
On the Tuesday the route covered the south of the Island and gave options for anything from 3 to over 10 mile runs.
Then the Thursday run which included two options of 6.5 miles or 12.5 miles (with the help of Lee Barnes for the logistics), the route started along the south of the Island then run along the West coast, which was the Billy Line an old disused railway line that is now a cycle path, at the north coast, then decided to add the crossing over the bridge to the main land and back, for the longer options we worked our way across the fields, the East costal path back to base, a proper ‘Tour de Hayling’ run.
For the final day we held the Redway Runners Petanque championships (like bowls) with 6 teams of two battling it out under the warm English sunshine and winning the non-existent cup was Terry and Jo.
All I can say about the evening entertainment is what goes on tour stays on tour, but we certainly had some enjoyable evenings and might have been a bit quiet in the mornings
Finally a few people stopped on the way back to meet up with Ian Stevens and get the elusive Q parkrun for the Alphabet challenge with the undulating Queen Elizabeth parkrun
