ABOUT

Marine

Marine is a regular leading the Sunday morning club social run and says ‘i come from a family who love sports. I started my running journey in 2018 after injuring myself in Brazilian Jiujitsu, running all my way up to 15K. Unfortunately, due to a series of personal circumstances, i was unable to physically practice any sports for 5 years.

In spring 2023, i started running again with the support of my family, a step at a time managing a little bit more at every run and discovering more and more my love for long run. This lead me to running my 1st half marathon in winter 2023. From then i knew i wanted to join a running club.

On the symbolic date of 1st January 2024 my life completely changed when i joined Redway Runners, I found a family of runners who enjoy running as much as i do, a family who support you so much you feel like nothing is impossible and you can climb mountain. Redway Runners have changed my life literally, i am now a marathon runner and a run leader. I consider myself as a hybrid athlete enjoying running, cycling, walking and outdoor sports in general.

Always on Sunday morning social club run with a smile and lots of energy to explore Milton Keynes from top to bottom on a lovely friendly run.

My favourite distance : 15km

My motto : Sunday Runday

Come and join me on Sunday morning social club run, it will be fun’

Chris

I am the Run Lead for the Friday Evening Social (Run and Drinks), for those that don’t know the general idea is we go to a different pub each Friday at 18:30 go for a run, then go for an (optional) drink afterwards (hard or soft)… really social element to this run.

As much as possible I try to encourage a range of paces on my runs, and it can be considered as a mixed terrain run as we often leave the Redways to explore trails or even sometimes go for an entirely trail run (mostly in the summer when you don’t need specialist trail shoes). In the Winter we tend to stick to Redways. I have been a lead on this run since 2018, and it is a very friendly bunch if you want to give us a try.

You will also often see me on the other evening socials on Monday and Wednesday, which I sometimes cover for. I also attend Tempo Tuesday or Tuesday Intervals, and am a regular on the Sunday run, and am fairly often at Milton Keynes parkrun when I’m not touristing to other parkruns (which I also enjoy doing), so feel free to speak to me if you see me. I lead because I love running in a group and love the social aspect to Redway Runners… see you all out there!

WHAT YOU SAID

Paul Billington

I meet Chris at Sweatshop running and we had a few good chats together. His running has certainly progressed better than mine 😀

Luke Chambers

Chris is a fantastic run lead as well as a good friend who you can always chat to and have a laugh with. One of my favourite people in the club 💚

Marine is a lovely person who I’ve run with on a few occasions now. Not been on a run she has lead yet but hoping to change that this coming Sunday 🤩

Thank you both for giving up your time to lead runs 💚💚💚

Carla Parry

Marine Turner loves a chat almost as much as she loves a run. I met her on my very first RR run (her first too) and we’ve run together ever since, it was her who encouraged me to do my first half marathon earlier this year 💚.

Marine is a great run lead and someone who really gives back to the group (stepping up to lead on Sundays when she was still fairly new to the group and marshalling when she’s not running events etc).

Ruth Devaney
