On Saturday, April 26, The Open University hosted our wonderful ceremony for the King’s Award for Voluntary Service presentation. Professor Josie Frazer, the Vice Chancellor of The Open University, welcomed everyone warmly.
Martin shared the history of Redway Runners, followed by Countess Howe, His Majesty’s Lord Lieutenant of Buckinghamshire, presenting the Plaque and Certificate signed by King Charles. Martin accepted the award on behalf of the club, expressing thanks to all the volunteers who have made Redway Runners one of the largest running clubs in the country, if not the world.
A special film highlighting our volunteers was shown.
We were honored to have many esteemed guests, including The High Sheriff of Buckinghamshire, Chris Curtis, the MP, the Mayor of Newport Pagnell, the Deputy Mayor of Milton Keynes, and the Chairman of Buckinghamshire Council, alongside our fab volunteers.
After the presentation, we enjoyed tea, coffee, and cake while listening to the delightful Olney Brass Band. It was truly an amazing afternoon, and we are grateful to everyone who contributed to this memorable afternoon for Redway Runners.
