We are very grateful to members who have previously donated trainers as part of our support for Unity MK (previously Winter Night Shelter). This was very much appreciated by the charity who are still benefitting from these donations of trainers and walking shoes/boots.
We would like to continue supporting them but would really welcome your generosity over the next few weeks to support another organisation, Milton Keynes YMCA.
YMCA provides supported housing dedicated to young adults aged 18-35 in Milton Keynes. They opened their doors in 1981 and since then have helped more than 10,000 local young people. They offer much more than just a home – they provide practical, emotional and employment support to enable the residents to belong, contribute and thrive.
They are looking to expand the activities they offer to the young people and have asked us to help support the residents who have expressed an interest in running.
Until 4 August 2024, we are looking for donations of trainers, still suitable for running (sizes 5 – 12), shorts/running leggings, technical t-shirts and sports bras.
Any donations which cannot be used by YMCA will be offered to Unity MK. Please bring your donations to your runs and the run leads, who have kindly agreed to help, will co-ordinate with Judith and Carlos to deliver them to the YMCA.
There will also be collection points at Furzton Relay, 13 July, Beat the Barge, 3 August and Charity Breakfast run 4 August. If you cannot make it to a run, please contact Judith Cumino via Redway Runners who will arrange to collect.
We are very excited about helping the YMCA and a step up run has also been set up for this Thursday 27 June and we would welcome any members to join David and Carlos (see earlier news story)
Thank you
