On Sunday 3 November 2024 all the club runs and the ramble came together with 146 of us, to remember the Redway Runners that no longer run amongst us at the club memorial Bench at Newlands Walk
We particularly remembered

- David Hudson
- Hayley Farmer
- Ian Davey
- James Beechey
- Kelly Howard
- Maff Childs
- Mike Webber
- Pete Galvin
- Roger Hobbs
- Val Geddes
- Viv Lynham
Thank you to all that took part and thanks to Lisa for helping to organise, Richard for the remembrance and Lee for selling poppies post the runs and ramble, plus of course to the run leads and helpers at the runs. Additional; thank you to the Warbler on the Wharf for hosting us and supplying teas and coffees for a donation that will be going to Willen Hospice.
Remembering those who run with us and amongst us
Viv Lynham
Viv passed away on 3rd Feb 2023 after a short illness. She had been running with Redway Runners since 2018 after completing one of the beginners courses with Annette. She continued her journey with the club taking part in the Move Up to Half Marathon group, leading to the MK Winter Half in 2019, the Need for Speed course and would be frequently seen at club events.
Following her own beginners graduation Viv would regularly assist on other Redway Runners beginners courses. She would often be found helping out on Saturday mornings after running parkrun or on Wednesday evenings.
James Beechey
James passed away on 23rd April 2022 after a short battle with cancer, having been diagnosed in September 2021. A true sportsman, James completed several Ironman (9hrs 34) and Outlaw triathlons as well as numerous marathons and other running events including The Race:Convergence, a 24 hour running race where the winner was the person who started the furthest away as the crow flies and the makes it to the Hope Valley in Derbyshire before the cut off. It was a gamble to see where everyone would choose to start and James chose The Super Sausage cafe on the A5! He made it the179km to the finish with an hour to spare. He had run the furthest and took the title…but his comment “I could have started from even further away!”
He was a major in the British Army and was often away from his wife and young children for months at a time but whenever he was home he loved running with the Green Army, especially the Tuesday night 6.40 group.
